THE STORMS, Leigh Park, Havant, England, live at the Star-Club Karlsruhe, 1965

The Storms were an English band from Leigh Park in Havant near Portsmouth. They toured Germany for almost a year, playing mostly monthly residences all across Germany from the Star-Palast in Kiel in the north to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the south. The group line-up was Chris Dennis, org, rg, Rob Tall, voc, Bernie Morley, b, Mick Eveleigh, lg, Paul Acourt, dr.

The band had entered Germany as a quartet, but in Kiel they recruited Chris Dennis, who had been in Liverpudlian Lee Curtiss‘ All Stars.

These recordings were made in February 1965 at the Star-Club in Karlsruhe, where the band shared a residency with The Silver Strings from DĂ¼sseldorf. The Silver Strings were famous for the long hair, and Scotty, their lead singer, had about the longest hair in Rock ‘n’ Roll then.

The recordings you can listen to were made on a cheap reel-to-reel recorder and the sound quality at the beginning is far from perfect, but it’ll get better into the next tracks.

You will see more of the Star-Club in Karlsruhe and The Storms if you open the website Shakin' All Over (https://www.shakin-all-over.de/?page_id=1173).
