GERMAN PSYCHEDELIA - SOUL CARAVAN – live in der Vestlandhalle, Recklinghausen, vermutl. Anfang 1969

SOUL CARAVAN – live in der Vestlandhalle, Recklinghausen

Zwei Songs, die Titel sind mir nicht bekannt, aber eingefleischte Soul-Caravan-Fans werden sie (er)kennen.

German psychedelic Soul. Soul Caravan would soon be Xhol Caravan and go psychedelic all the way. The band performing in Recklinghausen is most probably Gilbert „Skip“ Van Wijk, dr, James Rhodes, voc, Ronnie Swinson, voc, Hans-Jürgen „Hansi“ Fischer, fl, sax, Tim Belbe, sax, Klaus Briest, b, Werner Funk, lg, and Öcki von Bevern, org.

I've long wondered what happened to the members who left the band as it transitioned to Xhol Caravan: James Rhodes, Ronnie Swinson and Werner Funk. And their "Get in High" LP has never been issued since its original vinyl edition on CBS. Xhol were a superb band. Thanks so much!

Additionally, the track titles are All Green (their instrumental signature theme, first released on the LP Electrip) & Planet Earth, from their first single released under the name Xhol Caravan. I believe that Ronnie Swinson had just left the band at this time, with only Rhodes on vocals. These recordings are certainly better sound quality than the "Live 1969" CD released in 2006 on the Garden of Delights label. An important Krautrock artifact, even more so if you have the rest of the concert!
