Los Wrestling Mariachis – unreleased Fuzztones-styled Garage Rock Surf ‘n’ 60s Punk

A great find – unreleased Los Wrestling Mariachis – Fuzztones-styled Garage Rock Surf ‘n’ 60s Punk

LOS WRESTLING MARIACHIS – Germans on the rocks!

I don’t know anything by or about this band, only that I was the recipient of a demo tape that was obviously a (home?) studio recording (coupled with a live recording, see below), thus the sound quality is mostly good – apart from it being a cassette copy.

The band had been writing their own material and it registers as Dead-Moon-styled Fuzztones Surf Punk with one-and-a-half foot firmly in 60s garages and psychedelia. Just fine – genuine early 1990s Underground Garage Rock. They offer a few classics as well. And mind, this band sets fire to the local youth club stage.

Classic Garage Rock instrumentation: drums, bass, guitars, occasional organ and more than just one band member singing. And they definitely know about their roots incl. Roky Erikson.

And I’ve got more in store for you – a live performance (which is way more consistent than this studio thing – and soundwise on par).

And this was just the first half: another great find – unreleased Los Wrestling Mariachis live show! Teenpunk in the 90s.

LOS WRESTLING MARIACHIS – Germans definitely on the rocks!

The studio recording was coupled with a live show - which you’ll get here.

The band mostly refers to chosen tunes of their predecessors such as the Cramps, the Wipers, but also 60s acts like the Seeds, the Clique etc. and their grandfathers like Link Wray.

This is genuine Garage Teenpunk and Freak Beat. Nothing refined, just banging it all out. No high-class musicianship, just a whole lotta fun. Third Division Underground Garage Rock.
