FREAKS GALORE 5 - THE GOSPEL OF FREAKDOM

FREAKS GALORE 5

THE GOSPEL OF FREAKDOM

according to Luke Haines and Sonic Smith-d

More from the world of freakdom – of course, the supply is endless. Some even have the freakdom in their names. I chose Billy Roberts because his song was later customized by many Freaks.

I hope you enjoy this compilation as well, if you do, leave a comment.

01. THE NICE  -  WAR AND PEACE  (it isn‘t Keith E. who‘s the Freak here, but the unsurpassed David O‘List, master of the most unpredictable guitar)

02. ALBERTO Y LOST TRIOS PARANOIAS  -  PETER PARKER (CP Lee, Chaz Jankel, Roger Ruskin Spear - all prolific Freaks)

03. BILLY ROBERTS  -  HEY JOE (the first demo of this landmark song by his songwriter who‘d had the black prisoners on his mind)

04. SCREAMING LORD SUTCH  -  BLACK AND HAIRY (no more Freak than Lord Sutch)

05. PJ HARVEY  -  DRESS (women Freak, naturally)

06. THE TIGER LILLIES  -  HEROIN AND COCAINE (multicultural Freakness)

07. CAN  -  VITAMIN C (Germany‘s Freaks minus one)

08. THE SEEDS  -  MR. FARMER (Saxon Hooper Savage LA  Freaks)

09. THE RADIACS  -  SHE‘S MY WITCH (mustabeFreaks)

10. SAMANTHA FISH    BULLETPROOF (her Blues Freakness)

11. SYD BARRETT  -  GIGOLO AUNT (does he qualify?)

12. CABARET VOLTAIRE  -  WALLS OF JERICHO (F = Kirk, Mallinder, Watson)

Thank you! You've included lots of interesting choices -- and it's especially gratifying to see The Tiger Lillies featured here, though also Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias, and also . . . oh, well: it's definitely a cool compilation. To the best of my understanding, Syd Barrett's reputation for being out of his mind was actually quite exaggerated. But I'd still consider him to be freaky enough . . .

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I'm especially enthusiastic about compilations like these myself... when did I last time get out the Thoughts Of Emerlist Davjack? Or the Albertos album?
The sound quality of the Billy Roberts song isn't that good, I only have it on a cassette.
I've got no. 6 ready by the way, and that will be uploaded soon.
