German Garage Beat live in 1965

(West) Berlin Beat, nothing less. The Spacemen were founded in 1961 and carried on until 1967, when other matters became urgent.
They were amateurs and played mostly at the weekends. In 1965 they had a regular gig at the Riverboat which lasted almost a year. The Riverboat was a club hosted by the Berlin Senate primarily for the entertainment of visiting West German teens – often on class trips. Remember, Berlin was a divided city then – surrounded by the socialist German Democratic Republic. There were just two transit ways to the former German capital and it was always a considerable hassle to get into city. The border officials did not make it easy for you.
As far as I know, The Spacemen never played in West Germany, the German Federal Republic. But in West Berlin they were a force.
