DIE HEXER, live im Tabu, Bonn, 1964

Die Hexer on stage in Westfälischer Hof, Remagen, 1965

They were proud of their name: Die Hexer (The Witchers). Founded in 1963, they hailed from Goslar, never released a record, but were part of the Beat circuit. Members were Harald Magerkurth, drums, Dirk Frömbgen, bass, vocals, Johnny Lindenberg, organ, and Heino Petrik, who would later reappear in Die Mustangs, lead guitar. They were a rough R & B-orientated band in the beginning, but later developed into Beatles- and Hollies-styled band. As such they supported The Hollies, Zirkus Krone Bau, Munich, The Moody Blues, Sporthalle, Cologne, and The Yardbirds, K52, Frankfurt. They toured Germany with The (UK) Shamrocks and The Mozarts. Here they still are the rough-edged band of their early days. Some of the band would become members of The String Beats.
