Dutch Beat rules okay! For me the Netherlands have always been the richest country in regards to Beat and Garage Rock music of the 60s. Considering the population figures in comparison to the number of long-haired bands, there is no equal – not in the UK and not in the USA. Almost any street in whatever town seemed to have its own band. And they were creative and extravagant, not only in music, but also in the way they dressed and styled their hair. The Netherlands (in contrast to these days) in the 60s was a liberal country, very liberal. And that created wonderful bands playing wonderful music. You’ll find more Nederbeat doubles in ‘older posts’. Just see. And there are more to come. Just wait!
The
Dutch spoke excellent English mostly, and thus the lyrics were in general up to
scratch. Nevertheless a few blunders occurred, just listen to Tony Ronald opening
the ‘cock’ instead of the ‘tap’. He’d obviously looked up the word in the
dictionary and made the wrong choice. Beautiful.

Hi there,
I stumbled upon your great, great blog.
I really like the Powerpop- and Nederbeat posts.
This one, Nederbeat 3, seems to be unavailable.
Would a re-up be possible, so I can listen to these old Dutch beauties?
Thanx, and keep up the good work!
Ed
