The Mushroams were a band from the north German town of Bremen. They originally started off as a skiffle band: FIPS (The Five Idling Potato Stompers). They soon graduated as a fully fledged Beat band covering songs from the Rolling Stones to Herman’s Hermits with the occasional self-penned number thrown into the bargain. The line-up in 1965 was Jochen Laschinsky, voc, rh-gtr, org, Rolf Böhm, ld-gtr, voc, Jürgen ‘Gunnie” Weber, rh-gtr, voc, Karl-Heinz Bremser, b, voc, and Dieter “Zemmie” Zembski, dr, vov. By 1967 Weber had been replaced by Jürgen Freitag and Zembski by Heinz Dieter ‘Hascha’ Hashagen.
You can find their story along with some photos in the book „Shakin‘ All Over – die Beatmusik in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland 1963-1967“ (ISBN 978-3-946502-11-1) as well as in the extensive booklet accompanying the digi-sleeve CD „Beat im Norden“ (Bear Family BCD 16476 AR), both written by Hans-Jürgen Klitsch. The CD also features the A-side „Dely“ of their sole 7“ record (on the independent “pe” label. The Mushroams in disguise also toured Germany as Ohio Express after the touring version of the American Kasenetz-Katz project had disappeared and fled back home.
